DNA IQ™ System

DNAIQlogo The DNA IQ™ System is a DNA isolation system for the forensic and paternity community. This system employs a novel technology with paramagnetic particles to prepare clean samples for short tandem repeat (STR) analysis easily and efficiently. The DNA IQ™ System can be used to extract DNA from stains or liquid samples such as blood or resulting DNA solutions. The DNA IQ™ System has been tested with the Plexor® HY System and PowerPlex® Systems to ensure a streamlined process. This translates into reliable products and optimal results from isolation to quantitation and STR analysis.

Features

Designed specifically for use with forensic, database and paternity samples:
The unique DNA IQ™ Resin eliminates PCR inhibitors and contaminants frequently encountered in casework (e.g. denim, leather and soil). The DNA IQ™ System can be used to process difficult samples such as bloodstains on denim. Even bloodstains as small as 0.1µl can be processed and the DNA amplified to give a complete STR profile.

No extra quantitation steps prior to amplification:
For paternity and database samples, the DNA IQ™ System delivers a consistent amount of total DNA.

Cleaner DNA with a simple, rapid system:
To extract stains, just heat your sample in Lysis Buffer for 30 minutes and centrifuge. DNA IQ™ Resin then is added, and samples are washed using a magnetic stand. Thirty minutes later, you have purified DNA.

Flexibility:
The DNA IQ™ System is flexible. One simple system can be used for all types of forensic samples. The DNA IQ™ System allows you to decide how much DNA to extract from your samples.

Efficiency:
Sensitive to minute sample sizes. In addition, no harmful organic solvents such as phenol and chloroform are used, so use of a hood is not required and disposal of hazardous chemicals is eliminated.

DNA ISOLATION FROM BLOODSTAINS

Blood was diluted tenfold with PBS, and 1μl spots (0.1μl of blood) were placed on blue denim and stored for at least 3 weeks at room temperature. These bloodstains were cut out and processed using the DNA IQ™ System, and DNA was eluted in 25μl of Elution Buffer. Five microliters of eluted DNA was amplified using the PowerPlex® 16 System, and amplified fragments were analyzed using an ABI PRISM® 310 Genetic Analyzer. All samples examined gave easily identified genotypes.
