Promega GmbH´s Sound Tree Wins German Metal Construction Award

The Artwork by David Fuchs impresses the jury of the trade magazine M&T Metallhandwerk und Technik

Walldorf, Germany. (October 27, 2026)

The Sound Tree (Klangbaum) by David Fuchs, which has stood on the Promega GmbH grounds in Walldorf (Germany) since July 2025, has been awarded the German Metal Construction Prize (Deutscher Metallpreis) 2026 in the category Metal Design. The award ceremony took place on October 23, 2026, during the evening event of the Metal Congress in Würzburg (Germany). The award is presented annually by the trade magazine M&T Metallhandwerk und Technik and honors unique objects in metal construction.

“We congratulate David Fuchs on the German Metal Construction Award and are delighted that this artwork is receiving so much attention,” says Dr. Anette Leue, Head of Digital Marketing & Communications at Promega GmbH.

The concept of the Sound Tree, created by architect David Rousseau, depicts a great oak (“Great Oak”), a symbol of longevity, steadfastness and connection to nature. A thousand triangular cymbals hang in pairs from the branches of the artwork. They hang close together and strike against each other even in a light breeze, producing individual sounds.
